Mr. Gilmartin is a passionate musician who has helped my son. His teaching is both effective and adaptable, allowing my son to progress at his own pace while still being challenged. We appreciate his patience and the personalized attention he provides. I highly recommend him!

When my daughter became old enough for guitar lessons, I sent her straight to Bob Gilmartin. He is the type of teacher who can offer a custom tailored approach for each student’s individual goals and learning style. As a result, my daughter was selected to play lead guitar in her high school band. In addition to his regular lessons, Bob spends countless hours coordinating an annual Summer Jam that his students are able to perform at. Bob creates a backing band ensemble of some of New Jersey’s finest musicians, all volunteering their time towards the cause. This is a chance of a lifetime for many aspiring students. And lastly, Bob not only talks the talk, but walks the walk. He is one of the hardest working performers on the Jersey Shore and is one of the most coveted guitarists in the business. 5 stars for Bob Gilmartin!!

I began music lessons with Bob Gilmartin in December 2022. I am a vocalist in a local cover band and wanted to learn how to play an instrument to add another dynamic to my band. My goal was to learn how to play acoustic guitar so that I could play live during gigs with my band. 

Bob is an incredibly talented musician and has the ability to easily convey his knowledge to his students. He is an excellent music teacher. He taught me proper technique and incorporated music theory to broaden my understanding of musical concepts, chords and keys.  He is very patient and supportive throughout the learning process. He is very accessible to his students.  He motivates me to keep pushing myself to the next level of play.

Under his tutilege, I am now playing acoustic guitar in live gigs with my band.  He continues to introduce me to more challenging songs and styles of play to expand my music catalog. He is diligent, creative and dedicated to his students. I highly recommend Bob Gilmartin to anyone looking to learn how to play an instrument, as well as to musicians looking to improve and/or expand their skill set.

Bob has been my music teacher and a mentor for 15 years!  We focus primarily on bass and guitar.  After learning basics we use class time to learn more advanced technique and to practice songs before rehearsals for bands I currently and previously played in.  It’s great to have someone live on drums or guitar when practicing!  Bob is an excellent professional multi-instrument musician and singer.  Bob is an excellent teacher who is able to show you how to play riffs like you hear on recordings!  Bob’s annual Summer Jam is great fun and a great experience regardless of how many years you’ve already been playing before audiences, and it’s a great way to connect with other musicians in the area!  I highly recommend Bob Gilmartin to be your music teacher - he’s the best!

I have known Bob Gilmartin for nine years now. I began taking guitar lessons from him when I retired and immediately knew I’d found the right teacher. Having taken lessons from multiple teachers when I was younger, I’d never developed the ability to play with any confidence. I walked out of my first lesson with Bob playing The Eagles Take it Easy! Nine years later, I still play that song to remind me that it is possible to achieve quite a bit with the right teacher. Bob has a very easy going and relaxed teaching style that focuses on the interests and needs of each individual student. He paces learning to the students abilities and knows when to push them out of their comfort zones to reach new heights. I can highly recommend Bob if you are serious about developing your musical abilities. Bob taught me how not just to PLAY guitar, but to be a guitarist…to be a musician. 

Bob always pushed me out of my comfort zone helping me feel confident with learning more difficult music then I thought possible, and encouraging me that I could play it well. He pushed me to work hard while being understanding if I was struggling with a piece. He’s an amazing musician who taught me 3 instruments and helped me grasp the basics of music theory, song writing, and music production. Thanks to Bob I’ve grown into something I never thought I’d be, a musician. 

If your child is interested in guitar or piano lessons, take Bob! I have been working with Bob for over 8 years and have learned a variety of songs that range from the Beatles all the way to Taylor Swift pop hits. With Bobs help, I overcame my fear and can now play both the acoustic and electric guitar. He is an extremely caring instructor who not only wants his students to grow musically, but also as an individual. Bob is also very flexible when it comes to scheduling and is also very understanding. He too offers the fun event of your child preforming on stage with his amazing band at the Summer Jam. Working with Bob will be an unforgettable experience! Our family highly recommends him to anyone and everyone! 

As a student who has worked with Bob for over 6 years, I cannot recommend him enough! When I first started his lessons, I knew nothing about the guitar, but through his tailored lessons, he has truly guided me. Bob is incredibly caring and understanding as a person and truly wants his students to grow on both a musical and personal level. He is incredibly flexible with his schedule to ensure his students are properly learning and ready to perform with his band at the annual and exciting Summer Jam! Being a student under Bob is a fantastic experience and I very highly recommend him! 

My older son started acoustic guitar lessons with Bob when he was 8. That was 14 years ago and through this time, Bob has mentored him, taught him and made him a proficient musician and more importantly Bob has passed on his passion for music to my son, who now also plays the electric guitar and the bass!

My younger son started with Bob when he was 5 with the drums. Bob has taught him the acoustic, electric & bass guitar, the piano and the Cajon! Bob is an exceptional teacher and has come alongside my boys as they learned at different paces and has patiently worked with them and challenged them individually. We wholeheartedly recommend Bob!! He’s the absolute best!!
